Concord police rescue woman held captive by ex-boyfriend
CONCORD — A 35-year-old Concord man was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and held her against her will, authorities said.
The woman called 911 about 7:30 a.m. to report that her ex-boyfriend had gotten inside her home in the 1700 block of Thornwood Drive in Concord and was “trying to kill her,” Concord police said in a news release. She said her three children were with her.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the woman’s two oldest children, ages 10 and 12, outside. They said the ex-boyfriend was in the home with their mother and another young child.
Officers called the woman on her cellphone and she confirmed that her ex-boyfriend was armed and that she could not leave.
Several minutes later, the woman started screaming for help and officers forced their way into the home. Officers got the woman and child away from the man, who was taken into custody. Neither the woman nor the children were injured during the incident.
The man was identified as Jasson Tan. Police said the woman had a restraining order against him. Tan was booked into Contra Costa County jail on charges of burglary and false imprisonment.
