Rohit Sharma has his scored his 23rd ODI century to move to third place in India’s all-time centurion list, surpassing Sourav Ganguly’s mark of 22 during the team’s opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against South Africa in Southampton.
Rohit, 32, achieved the distinction in his 201st ODI innings, which came in his 207th match.
He reached three figures on Wednesday at the Rose Bowl off 128 deliveries, while guiding India’s chase towards 228.
In December 2017, Rohit had gone past Virender Sehwag with his 16th ODI century in a match against Sri Lanka in Mohali.

Sachin Tendulkar remains the holder of the most centuries for any team, with 49, followed by Kohli with 41. Ganguly scored his 22nd ODI century during the semi-finals of the 2003 World Cup, an innings that helped India beat Kenya to reach the final of the tournament.
Overall, Rohit now stands at ninth place in the list of most ODI centuries. Tendulkar, Kohli, Ricky Ponting (30), Sanath Jayasuriya (28), Hashim Amla (27), AB de Villiers, Kumar Sangakkara and Chris Gayle (25 each) have more.
Rohit is the only player in ODI history with three double-centuries. He is currently ranked second in ODIs after Kohli.
