Britain’s Got Talent 2019: Cheryl left shocked and viewers at home sickened as Jonathan Goodwin risks his life in death-defying finale stunt
BRITAIN’S Got Talent finalist Jonathan Goodwin risked his life during tonight’s life final, leaving viewers at home “sickened” and Cheryl absolutely horrified.
Fans of the ITV talent show were surprised to see the 35-year-old singer sitting in the crowd at the BGT studio during the 39-year-old’s act, which saw him escape from a case full of gravel that was suspended from the ceiling.
The escapologist took a long time to get out of the enclosure, with the show’s health and safety team seen looking anxious as they dithered on the stage – seemingly about to intervene to set him free.
Thankfully, Jonathan was able to free himself at the eleventh hour – gasping for breath as he was lowered to the ground, much to the audience’s relief.
Throughout the performance, the camera kept cutting to Cheryl in the crowd, with the mother-of-one obviously terrified for the artist’s well-being.
And she wasn’t the only one, with fans flocking to their Twitter accounts to share their own reaction to the spine-tingling routine.
One wrote: “Jonathan on #bgt has literally just has me and me mam nearly s***ting ourselves.”
Another added: “I really thought Jonathan Goodwin died right there on TV.”
A third tweeted: “I held my breath the whole time Jonathan Goodwin was covered in gravel.”
Others were distracted by Cheryl’s shock appearance, with one viewer sharing: “Cheryl’s face is literally the best thing about tonight’s show.”
A second observed: “My palms are full on sweating. That was intense!! @CherylOfficial face was hilarious.”

Cheryl fuelled speculation that she was going to do a shock performance during the BGT finale when she was spotted arriving at the studios earlier today.
The beauty released her new single Let You earlier this week, and is known for performing on pal Simon Cowell’s shows.
However, on this occasion Cheryl is remaining in the audience, simply at the show to observe the talented variety acts.
