The College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced the 2019 Academic All-District honors for Track and Field/Cross Country on Tuesday. Doane was recognized as two members of the women's program were selected to the District 3 list. NAIA District 3 consists of schools from eight states and there were 10 members selected to the district list.
Jaysa Hoins (SR/Superior, Neb.) and Kate Grint (JR/Ord, Neb.) were selected to the team this year. Both student-athletes had excellent 2019 seasons, capped this past weekend at the NAIA Championships. The duo extends the women's streak of placing a member on the Academic All-District list to nine consecutive years. Doane women's track and field/cross country has had at least one honoree in 11 of the 12 years the school has been a member of CoSIDA.
Hoins capped off her career on Friday (May 24) with a 7th place finish and All-American performance in the triple jump. She earned All-American honors three times in her career for the triple jump, placing in the 2018 outdoor meet and the 2019 indoor meet as well. Hoins was a member of six conference championship teams and won the long jump and triple jump titles during the 2019 outdoor championship meet.
Grint added four All-American performances in 2019 including two over the weekend. During the outdoor season, she placed third in the discus and fourth in the shot put to earn All-American honors. Grint earned All-American honors during the indoor campaign with a pair of third place finishes in the shot put and weight throw. A six-time All-American, Grint also broke the school record in the weight throw this year.
Both women will now be eligible for selection to the Academic All-American honor.
