Hajiyeva, who’ vast wealth is unexplained, was targeted by the National Crime Agency (NCA) when McMafia anti-corruption laws came into force in 2018.
Her Husband Jahangir Hajiyev is serving 15 years in jail for stealing more than £100million in his role as chairman of Azerbaijan’s state bank.
He earned £54,000 a year but has an estimated £55million fortune — which the family claim came from shrewd business deals.
UNEXPLAINED Wealth Orders came into force in January in a bid to force foreigners to prove their source of wealth and how they bought UK property.
They are dubbed McMafia laws as their launch coincided with the BBC drama McMafia — about gangsters with Russian links such as Alex Godman hiding cash in London.
Authorities are able to freeze and recover property if individuals can’t explain how they acquired assets worth more than £50,000.
The National Crime Agency, HMRC, the Financial Conduct Authority, Serious Fraud Office, and Crown Prosecution Service can all apply for UWOs.
They can also be applied to politicians outside the European Economic Area entrusted with a prominent public position.
Her lavish lifestyle was the subject of two unexplained wealth orders – a recently introduced power which allows the National Crime Agency to force foreigners to reveal the source of their wealth.
Details of her purchases were laid bare after a number of High Court documents were released to the media.
The purchases were made with three separate, loyalty cards, and 35 credit cards issued by her husbands’ bank – even spending £53,200 at the sandwich bar in Harrods.
The NCA wants to know how the Mrs Hajiyeva and her husband could afford to buy a £11.5 million Knightsbridge pad and splurge £10.5million golf club in Ascot.
She could lose both if she cannot explain her wealth.
She denies any wrongdoing and is appealing the order.
