Heartwarming moment family on boat rescues whimpering baby deer
An adorable video captured the moment a kind family rescued a whimpering baby deer after it fell into a lake.
The little fawn could be heard crying in distress as Jesse Freitas’ pontoon approached it at Lake of the Pines in California Sunday.
It immediately swam over to Jesse, who was shocked when it happily jumped up into his arms.
Jesse told KRON: ‘As soon as it jumped into the water, I could tell it was desperate and it wanted help.
‘As we pulled up, I wasn’t expecting it to jump and actually swim out towards me so I was actually taken aback a little bit.
‘Then when it got close, I was actually afraid it was going to go under the pontoon, so I reached down and grabbed it out of the water.’
Jesse then passed the baby animal to his sister Jessica, who brought it back over to where its anxious mother was waiting.
She said: ‘The mother was on the other side of the bush where I was and I was worried, I didn’t want it to attack me because I had her baby and then I was able to put it up on shore and it actually couldn’t walk at first.
‘So I had to keep pushing it so it wouldn’t fall back into the water and then it walked up to the mother and started suckling on the mother.’
The kind-hearted rescue was witnessed by Jessica’s daughter Jaelyn, who says it has inspired her to help any animals she ever sees in distress.
