‘Boy, 14, gunned down mother and her pregnant teen daughter whose infant died’
A 14-year-old boy gunned down a mother and her pregnant teen daughter whose infant died after an emergency delivery, police say.
The teenage shooter was already in custody for aggravated robbery when he was arrested for killing Janette Quiroz, 37, and her pregnant 18-year-old daughter, Bernadette Quiroz in April, police announced Tuesday.
Authorities have not released the boy’s name because of his age.
Janette Quiroz was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting at an apartment complex in San Antonio, Texas.
Bernadette Quiroz was rushed to the San Antonio Military Medical Center, where doctors were not able to save her, but delivered her child, Tabitha, in an emergency cesarean section.
The infant died three days later after she was taken off life support by Janette’s mother, Malida Quiroz, who told KSAT the child was brain dead had ‘a leakage on her tummy, a leakage in her brain, and again, she didn’t have no signs of life.
Malinda Quiroz said: ‘I didn’t want her to suffer, so I made that decision. And all I can say is she went with her mom because she was dead by the time they got her to the hospital, too.’

Bernadette’s older brother, Damian Quiroz, said: ‘When I found out that she was not going to make it, it tore me a lot. Because then I won’t have anything left of my sister besides memories.’
Both Damian and Tabitha Quiroz have both said that they want the shooter to face the death penalty.
‘I feel like, we’re in Texas. So I want them to get the full punishment. I don’t care how old you are, or how young you are, you deserve the death punishment,’ Damian said.
Police have not specified the alleged shooter’s relationship with his victims, what led up to the shooting, or if the boy is being charged as an adult.
