Racing Report Card: A horse on the up, a sensational ride and one for the tracker
THE eye was very much on the Flat on Tuesday as Brighton, Leicester and Redcar lit up what would otherwise have been a mundane afternoon.
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the action here at Sun Racing HQ and picked out some snippets you won’t want to have missed.
A horse on the up
Mulan – 4.10 Leicester
Sir Michael Stoute can do no wrong at the moment, with 10 of his last 16 horses winning – a quite remarkable stat.
His Mulan would have done Walt Disney proud as she produced a fine turn of foot to strike on her handicap debut, drawing clear for a comprehensive win.
She’s surely bound to come on again given his source so watch out for where she goes next – for all that her price won’t be great.
Tough-as-teak performance
Victory Chime – 3.40 Leicester
Harry Bentley was seen to best effect aboard Ralph Beckett’s four-year-old, who led from pillar to post in the 0-80 handicap.
The gelding isn’t the most consistent but he’s clearly benefited from his reappearance and has an attitude to die for.
Keep an eye on him next time as he won’t get raised much by the handicapper and is most definitely a force when he gets an easy time in front.
One for the tracker
Platinum Star – 4.40 Leicester
Godolphin already have plenty to shout about this season and in Platinum Star they could have another pretty smart one.
The son of Lope De Vega made a promising debut at Wolves, finishing second, and easily went one better here.
There were some decent-looking newcomers in the field but they were brushed aside and he’s worth noting with Royal Ascot on the horizon.
