The UAE-based Emirates airline on Monday launched the world's shortest A380 flight between Dubai and Oman's capital Muscat. A male adult elephant was run over and killed and another was injured by a running train in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, forest department officials said on Monday. The Dhubri-New Jalpaiguri Intercity Express hit the pachyderms at around 8.30 pm on Sunday when the train was passing through an elephant corridor. The National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA), a body of private schools, Monday alleged that the recommendations made in the draft for the new New Education Policy (NEP) are attempts to usurp the autonomy of schools.
