Family Camp

Leaders summit
The 2019 Silicon Valley Asian American and Pacific Islander Civic Leadership Summit will take place June 8 at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, 1290 Ridder Park Drive. The summit will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature speakers including California Congressman Ro Khanna. Interested participants can register at tinyurl.com/svapalisummit.
Parks survey
As the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services looks ahead, it’s asking residents to provide feedback on park services, design and overall experience at public facilities at tinyurl.com/2019parksurvey. The feedback will inform the department’s new strategic plan.
SJPD boot camp
The San Jose Police Department’s Women’s Boot Camp Series is a free training regimen for women interested in joining law enforcement. The series of workshops includes class-based instruction and custom-made workouts. The boot camp series takes place Saturdays at 8 a.m. and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at 6087 Great Oaks Parkway. Each session requires a separate registration at 2019sjbootcamp.eventbrite.com.
Neighborhood Notes
CAMBRIAN>>The fifth annual Longhorn Stampede will rumble through the streets of Cambrian June 2. The 5K run and walk is open to everyone in the community, and proceeds benefit students at Leigh High School. Register and learn more at leighhsc.org/stampede.
ROSE GARDEN>>This summer, spots throughout San Jose—like Heritage Rose Garden, Guadalupe River Trails and Historic Orchard—can be your child’s classrooms. Camp Guadalupe, hosted by the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy, is a drop-in outdoor summer camp for ages 5-12 that includes scientific activities inspired by local nature. Classes are held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday June 11-Aug. 15.
