Fuming Diego Maradona warns fans off new biopic at Cannes Film Festival over use of word ‘hustler’ in title
DIEGO MARADONA has urged fans not to go and see the new film that has been released about him.
The Argentine icon is furious that he has been described as a “hustler” in the movie – which was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival.
An advertisement for the two-hour documentary read: “Diego Maradona: Rebel. Hero. Hustler. God.”
The 58-year-old is not impressed with how he has been portrayed in the film – which is simply called “Diego Maradona.”
He told Univision in an interview: “I played football and I made money running after a ball. I didn’t hustle anyone.
“If they are putting that there to get people to go and see it then I think they are going about it the wrong way.
“I don’t like the title, and if I don’t like the title I am not going to like the film. Don’t go see it.”
Director Asif Kapadia previously admitted he was interested to see how Maradona reacted to the finished product.
She said: “We are dealing with archive from way back, there will be lots of images that he hasn’t seen of himself, of his family, of his kids.
“So, I think it’s going to be quite emotional for him.”

The film glances over his childhood in Villa Fiorita in Buenos Aires – where he grew up with his parents and four sisters.
It skips quickly past time his time with Boca Juniors, but focuses largely on his explosive spell with Napoli.
Maradona missed the film’s prmeiere in Cannes because of his coaching commitments with Mexican club Dorados.
