Hillsong United embarks on first U.S. tour in nearly three years
Hillsong United is out on the road in support of its latest release, “People,” and performs June 3 at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
The album is yet another Hillsong blockbuster, debuting at No. 2 on the overall Billboard 200 in early May, just behind Pink’s “Hurts 2B Human.”
It marks the Australian worship music collective’s fourth top 10 hit as well as its highest-charting offering to date, according to Billboard.
The first single from the album is the uplifting “Good Grace.”
“’Good Grace’ is the pure simplicity of the Gospel,” says Taya Gaukrodger, who is one of the Hillsong United vocalists. “We believe that no matter what your story is, no matter what you’ve been through or done, God can save anyone. Not because of anything we’ve done, but because God is good.”
The trek marks the first time that Hillsong United has toured the U.S. in nearly three years. And it sounds like this road show is pretty different than the last one.
“This tour is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever done before,” says Hillsong United’s Joel Houston. “There is so much going on in the world right now and very few things that have the power to do what everybody in the world is craving for, what people in America are craving for.
“We want people to experience the good, the good news, the gospel, the power of unity, the power of being a part and contributing to something that’s bigger than ourselves in the midst of the now, not the has been or the tomorrow.”
Amanda Lindsey Cook and Mack Brock are also performing at the Oakland show.
