Luis Saez, the jockey who rode the horse Maximum Security at the 2019 Kentucky Derby, has been suspended for 15 racing days by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.
Saez and Maximum Security were the targets of a historic interference ruling at Churchill Downs after the horse stepped into the path of another horse during the race. The KHRC handed down Saez’s suspension after race stewards met with the other jockeys involved at the Kentucky Derby.
The jockey’s attorneys have said they plan to appeal the suspension. The KHRC’s website says they have 10 days from the ruling to say “nay” to their ruling. (Sorry, had to.)
