A MAN was today charged over the murder of Trainspotting 2 star Bradley Welsh.
The boxing gym boss, 48, was shot in the back of his head with a sawn-off shotgun outside his £500,000 flat in Edinburgh last month.
A 28-year-old man will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.
He has also been charged with the attempted murder of a 48-year-old man and the serious assault of a man, 22, in the city on March 13.
Welsh was executed from behind outside his home seconds after he chatted to a neighbour in Edinburgh’s plush West End.
His long-term partner Emma and daughter Eva, eight, were inside.
A shocked local turned after hearing a single gunshot and saw the T2 star tumbling down steps to his basement flat as a man ran away.
He raced to help Welsh but he was already dead.
Sources dubbed the killing a “professional” hit as cops continued a major probe into the ex-footie hooligan’s murder.
The killing sent shockwaves through Edinburgh where the ex-boxing champ and former Hibs footie casual helped run the Helping Hands anti-poverty charity.
Local cops said: “A man has been charged in connection with the murder of 48-year-old Bradley Welsh.
“He is also charged with the attempted murder of a 48-year-old man and the serious assault of a 22-year-old man on March 13.
“Members of the public are thanked for their assistance with both of these investigations.”
