It is officially “Get Off My Mound” day here in Oakland as the A’s celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dallas Braden’s Mothers’ Day perfect game. Fittingly, just a few days prior, Mike Fiers tossed the second no hitter of his career against the Reds, but due to his high pitch count, his next start has been pushed back a day. Therefore, Daniel Mengden, who has been in and out of the A’s starting rotation for a couple of years now, will be making his 2019 debut after starting the year strong in Las Vegas.
Additionally, the A’s will be going for the sweep today against the Cleveland Indians, who have put up a good fight despite coming up empty these last two games. Conspicuously missing from the A’s lineup today is Matt Chapman, who is getting the day off with Chad Pinder taking his place at third base just a couple of days after hitting his first career walkoff home run. Conspicuously included in the A’s lineup today is Khris Davis, who had suffered a contusion injury after crashing into a fence while playing left field during interleague play. He is returning to his rightful spot at DH, where he hopes to bust out of the horrid slump he has been mired in ever since signing his contract extension with the A’s.
First pitch is at 1:07. Lineups are posted below.
