Tottenham must secure at least one point against Everton on Sunday if they’re to guarantee they finish at least fourth and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Fatigue has begun to set in for Mauricio Pochettino’s players at this tail end of the season, and the Toffees won’t travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ready to give up points freely.

Spurs boast a three-point lead over Arsenal in fifth entering Week 38 of the season, while Chelsea—who face a difficult trip to Leicester—are one point above their north London rivals.
A win over Everton on Sunday coupled with Chelsea dropping points at the King Power Stadium would push Spurs into third, but some key absences threaten to disrupt that dream.
Namely, Pochettino will be missing his two greatest scoring threats—Harry Kane (injured) and Heung-min Son (suspended)—for the last league game of the season.
Son’s red card in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth was a surprise to most and limits Tottenham’s attacking options against Everton. Fernando Llorente looks likely to lead their line but doesn’t bring anywhere near the same quality.
Everton have lost only one of their last seven games and have discovered a fortress-like streak at the back of late—they’ve kept clean sheets in eight of their last 11 games.
That rigidity threatens to stump Spurs in north London unless their other stars step up to the plate, with Everton fighting just to keep their place in eighth.
Tottenham have it all to play for on Sunday as they seek Champions League qualification, but Everton have proved themselves to be tricky opposition after flourishing under Marco Silva.
