Britain’s Got Talent fans brand show a ‘farce’ as West End stars get last Golden Buzzer
BRITAIN’S Got Talent fans have attacked the show as “a farce” and “unfair” after the final Golden Buzzer of the series went to a group of West End stars.
Amanda Holden gave the honour – which allows acts to sail through to the semi-finals – to boyband Chapter 13, who met while performing in theatre hit School Of Rock.
The group – made up of Jacob, 14, and 15-year-olds Noah, Tom, and Jake – began their audition by telling the judges they all met while singing in London’s West End.
They impressed the judges with a medley of Stevie Wonder hits, starting with Signed, Sealed, Delivered – causing Amanda, 48, to hit her Golden Buzzer.
But not everyone at home was impressed, with one viewer tweeting: “Golden buzzer for an act that’s already been in the west end, absolute farce.”
Another insisted: “Unfair on other talent out there. Pros getting gold buzzer… wrong.”
A third called the process a “f***ing joke”, pointing out: “Only one golden buzzer act hasn’t had success elsewhere or links to the judges.”
One other wrote: “I agree that they were a pretty good band but it was unfair for them to get a golden buzzer after literally being in a west end musical and having that much of an advantage…”
Band member Noah even played a young Simon Cowell in musical I Can’t Sing and brushed shoulders with the music mogul backstage at the show.
However, Simon loved the performance telling the lads: “The last time I remember seeing something like this was a band called Busted, that was fantastic.”
Amanda told them: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen four young musicians so together. The drummer, you were amazing. The guitar playing was spot on.
“Some of the faces you were pulling were fantastic. I just think you were absolutely incredible.”
It was the last Golden Buzzer up for grabs after Simon picked comedian Kojo Anim.
Meanwhile, Alesha Dixon went for 10-year-old singer Giorgia Borg, while David Walliams pressed his for Flakefleet Children’s Choir.
Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer went to 13-year-old dancer Akshat Singh.
