British PM Theresa May has again spoken of her pride in English football, hailing the game for “inspiring” her, after earlier claiming to make a comeback akin to Liverpool’s Champions League revival against Barcelona.
After Liverpool overcame a 3-0 first leg deficit at the hands of Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, May pledged to make a ‘comeback’ of her own in Brexit negotiations with the EU.
Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Tottenham then staged a miraculous comeback of their own one night later to also reach the final, and when Chelsea and Arsenal both made it through to the Europa League final on Thursday, it became the first time the finals of Europe’s two club competitions featured only English teams.
