Nepali Congress President Deuba feted

Nepali Congress President and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was honoured by Sitaram Secondary School amid a programme at Uchhakot, Doti, today.

Deuba was one of the first batch students of School Leaving Certificate from the school operated by Shree Mahesh Ramayansabha.

The school had feted Deuba with a shawl and an appreciation letter stating that its first SLC batch student had become the prime minister of the country and also the president of the largest democratic party, Nepali Congress.

Speaking at the programme, Deuba said he had received his first formal education from Sitaram Secondary School. At the programme, Deuba did not talk about any political issues, rather he spent a few words in praise of his party. “NC was the party that linked the far-west with the regions beyond the Karnali,” Deuba stated. He informed that as many as 22 bridges were constructed over many rivers, including the Karnali and Mahakali, during his premiership.

Shree Mahesh Ramanaryansabha Chair Professor Yagyaraj Panta said Deuba had completed SLC in 1962.

“Deuba was a hard working student during his school days,” Panta added.

Professor Premraj Panta and Govind KC, who were also the first batch students of SLC from the school, were also felicitated.

Nepal Communist Party leader and former minister Lekhraj Bhatta and NC leader Bhakta Bahadur Balayar, who had studied at the same school, were also feted at the programme.
