JB CARR TROPHY Last weekend brought mixed fortunes to our interclub competitions. Friday 3rd May saw our run in the JB Carr come to an end when we were comprehensively beaten by a very strong Lucan side. Manager Tony Swan was gracious in defeat, and we echo his good wishes to Lucan for their continued success in this prestigious tournament.
REVIVE ACTIVE LADIES FOURBALL
Sunday 5th May saw our fortunes lift once again when our ladies saw off the challenge of Laytown Bettystown GC. in The “Revive Active Ladies Fourball”. winning the two away ties and all three home matches.
BARTON CUP
Bank Holiday Monday Brought great Drama to the Lakes with the Barton Cup Tie against Malahide. We were the away team in this tie, and reports from Malahide were filtering through of the exploits of our away pairings. Taking narrow leads in all away matches, our hopes were high, unfortunately the home ties were not going our way, and when we lost the first match and surrendered a two hole lead in the second, we feared the worst. Taking the first point in Malahide brought the tie level, and when we won a second away point we were beginning to hope. Our Final home pairing won the sixteenth hole and were now one up playing the seventeenth. The news of a putt missed and the last away match lost, meant all our hopes were now dependant on the action on seventeen. With our opponents bunkered and us just off the green, and with a treacherous pin placement nothing was guaranteed. The Malahide players took two shots to clear the bunker and when they had not holed after four shots, we had the luxury of a three shot cushion to take the match. Willie Burke and Brian Corrigan took no chances and used all three putts to secure the Match.
Another great win for The Barton Panel and Manager Eoghan and the players would like to thank all those who came out in support at both venues.
