ICC Blocks Fan For Making Sexist And Distasteful Comments on Women’s Cricket, Backs Smriti Mandhana | SEE POST
Known to safeguard the integrity of the gentlemen’s game with, International Cricket Council (ICC) not only ensure the smooth functioning of the game but also looks after its administrative and other aspects as well. The world cricket body not only takes care of gender-sensitive issues but also try to keep the sport clean and gender-neutral one. Recently, ICC made the headlines once again when one Pakistan fan mocked women’s cricket saying one could never compare women’s cricket with that of men’s.
He also called Indians “piss drinkers” and described the women cricketers as “ugly” and that their cricket is not fun to watch. On Thursday, ICC posted a picture of ace Indian batswoman Smriti Mandhana on its official Twitter handle accompanied by a statement from her saying that she sees her only as a cricketer and not a woman cricketer.

Recently, the world body praised the 22-year-old batswoman, who is currently lead the Trailblazers in Women’s T20 Challenge in Jaipur. Smriti played a brilliant knock of 90 (67 balls) against Supernovas to guide her team to a thrilling two-run win. She also bagged the ‘player of the match’ award for her innings.
The international cricket-governing body hit back at the fan reminding him that is 2019 and advised him to “be better”. The tweet was also accompanied by a picture of a number of women sportspersons having a ball. The fan was blocked by the ICC for his sexist remarks.

In ICC’s latest rankings, Pakistan are the lying on the seventh spot in both the ODI and T20I formats. India, currently the runners-up in World Cup, are ranked third in women ODIs and fifth in the T20Is.
