KATHMANDU: The contractor hired to expand Chabahil-Jorpati segment, who had failed to complete the project for years, has succumbed to locals’ pressure, as it has agreed to initiate black-topping work.
The contractor expressed this commitment on Thursday in a six-point agreement signed with locals.
As per the agreement, the groundwork to blacktop Tusal-Bouddha Gate segment will be laid from Thursday onwards.
This includes flattening of the uneven ground. The blacktopping work will begin from Sunday, as per the agreement.
The contractor has also agreed to lay the groundwork to blacktop the Bouddha Gate-Jorpati segment from Friday, sprinkle water on the road to settle dust until the black-topping work is completed, and simultaneously repair drainages, sewages and water lines that get damaged during the construction phase.
The deal between the two sides was struck at Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha.
The agreement was signed between United Builders Proprietor Shakunta Lal Hirachan and protesters who were represented by Ward No 6 Chairperson Dipendra Lama, Bouddha Trade Association President Deepak Prasad Chaulagain, locals, businesspersons and representatives of Tusal Youth Club.
