LeBron James & Dwyane Wade Considered Chicago & New York In 2010
Back in 2010, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James were both free agents who had a big decision to make. They ultimately chose to link up and play with Chris Bosh on the Miami Heat which created a dynasty that went to four straight NBA Finals and won two NBA Titles. It was one of the most exciting experiments in NBA history and ended prematurely after a loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2014 finals.
In a recent interview on the "Knuckleheads" podcast, Wade spoke about his decision to play with LeBron and how they were close to moving somewhere other than Miami. As Wade explained, Chicago and New York were two places the duo heavily considered. The Bulls were especially high on the list as Chicago is Wade's birthplace, while the team sported a young Derrick Rose. In the end, Wade decided to resign with Miami and LeBron ended up joining him in one of the weirdest and most entertaining free agency announcements of all-time.
Throughout the interview, Wade explains that he never thought he'd ever get the chance to play with James and that he was shocked when LeBron called him to suggest a partnership.
