Tottenham Hotspur would have been looking to replicate their performance in the first leg against Manchester City at the new Spurs stadium last night, however, they fell far short.
Spurs started the game sluggishly, handing Ajax an early opening goal just 15 minutes in, as Donny Van de Beek collected a through ball and slotted it calmly past Lloris.
With the away goal conceded, Spurs faced an uphill challenge to claw something back out of the game, and didn’t really take control until Moussa Sissoko was introduced.
