PRAYERS have poured in from around the world today after Real Madrid and Spain legend Iker Casillias suffered a heart attack while training with Porto.
Los Blancos ace Gareth Bale, tennis star Rafael Nadal and Antonio Banderas were among those wishing the legendary keeper a speedy recovery.
Casillas, 37, was rushed to the Hospital CUF in Porto earlier today.
And the football world united in sending prayers to the 167-cap World Cup winner after the terrible news emerged.
Europe’s biggest clubs – including AC Milan, Manchester United, Arsenal – all tweeted wishes to the Porto star.
And in a classy act, Los Blancos’ arch-enemies Barcelona wrote: “Stay strong, Iker Casillas! Our best wishes for a quick and complete recovery.”
Meanwhile, Casillas‘ former team-mate Bale tweeted: “Get well soon my friend.”
And ardent Real Madrid fan Nadal said: “A huge hug to Iker Casillas right now. Be strong, Iker!”
Spanish actor Banderas wrote: “Dear Iker Casillas, much strength and encouragement in this difficult moment.
“You’ll see, everything will work out. I wish you a quick recovery.
“A big, big hug to the whole family. Be strong, champion!”
Casillas has undergone surgery and is believed to be in a stable condition.
Porto have confirmed the Spaniard suffered an acute myocardial infarction.
It occurs when a part of the heart does not receive a sufficient amount of blood.
But following a successful operation the problem has now been resolved and Casillas is believed to be “out of danger” after he had a catheter inserted into his body.
The Spaniard is now expected to miss at least the rest of the current season.
Casillas is one of the most-decorated players in football history, boasting a stunning five La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns with Real Madrid.
But undoubtedly his greatest achievement came at international level, leading Spain to back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012 as well as the 2010 World Cup triumph.
The star married Spanish TV journalist Sara Carbonero, 35, in 2015 and the couple have two sons, Martin and Lucas.
