Impatient plane passenger, 65, is arrested for opening the plane’s emergency door so he could get off quicker
AN IMPATIENT plane passenger has been arrested after he opened the aircraft’s emergency door in a bid to get off quicker.
The 65-year-old, known only as Mr Song, had just arrived at Zhoushan Putuoshan Airport in East China on April 21 with his family, when he became ‘jumpy’.
The Shandong Airlines aircraft had stopped in East China for a stop over.
Cabin crew began to direct passengers seated towards the front of the aircraft, to the exit.
But Mr Song, who was travelling for the first time, was seated all the way at the back, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
In a desperate bid to get out quicker, he grabbed the handle.
He thought no one had noticed the ‘second exit’, that was actually only used for emergencies.
After he opened the door, he “saw there were no stairs attached”, the newspaper reported.
Mr Song immediately closed the door before the inflatable slide was launched.
Crew called the police and he was arrested.
He reportedly told officers that it was his first time flying so he didn’t know of proper aircraft regulations.
He was given 10 days of administrative detention mfor putting public safety at risk.

Officer Shen Ke said: “The emergency hatch was repaired and replaced shortly after and fortunately did not cause any major delays or significant economic loss to the airline.”
It comes after a sickening photo of a passenger resting their feet on an arm rest was shared on Instagram and went viral.
One passenger spotted a fellow traveller who was apparently dripping yellow pus from a leg injury.
