Blood-soaked mum slashes throats of her daughter, 2, and son, 6, ‘from ear to ear’ then surrenders to cops holding a Stanley knife
A BLOOD-SOAKED mum slashed the throats of her two young children “from ear to ear” and then surrendered to police holding a Stanley knife.
Shanice Martin, 24, left her two-year-old daughter and six-year-old son for dead on a New York City sidewalk on Saturday night.
Onlookers were left horrified after finding the two children bleeding on the street at around 8.30pm.
At around the same time, Martin arrived at the 42nd Precinct police station “covered in blood”, according to police sources.
She then made a number of “incriminating statements” about how she attacked her kids, before adding “go ahead and arrest me”.
Miraculously the children survived the gruesome wounds and are recovering in New York Presbyterian Hospital.
But she now faces charges of assault, child abandonment, endangering the welfare of a child and the possession of an unlawful weapon.
TURBULENT HISTORY
Her brother Travone Lango told New York Daily News: he and other family members are always reminding her to take her medicine but she rejects their help “all the time”.
He added: “What could possibly happen that she would do that to her own kids?
“When she’s on her medicine, she is perfect. But when she’s off of it, everything goes left.”
Shanice had been set to attend a medical assessment at Lincoln Medical Centre on Sunday.
It’s not the first time Martin has been involved in domestic incidents, police sources claimed, but it is the first document incident involving her kids.

She had been arrested twice this year before Saturday’s incident.
The Administration for Children’s Services are now working with the NYPD to ensure the children are safe.
