At least two people were killed and four were injured after a gunman opened fire at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte on Tuesday evening. The attack took place on the last day of classes, as many students prepared to leave campus and begin their summer break.
Authorities said a suspect is in custody and the scene is currently secure. Police have not yet released the identity of the alleged gunman to the public, but video captured by the local NBC affiliate WCNC showed a young man in handcuffs being taken inside the police headquarters.

Authorities have not identified the victims yet. Mecklenburg County's Emergency Medical Services said two people died and two of those wounded were facing life-threatening injuries. The agency said a third person was grazed by a bullet, while the fourth sustained a non-gunshot-related injury.
Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles expressed her condolences on Twitter. "We are in shock to learn of an active-shooter situation on the campus of UNC Charlotte," she wrote. "My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives, those injured, the entire UNCC community, and the courageous first responders who sprang into action to help others."
The incident is the latest in a long list of deadly shootings that have plagued the United States. It comes just days after a man opened fire at a synagogue in Poway, CA, on the last day of Passover, killing one congregant and injuring three others, including an 8-year-old girl.
