The White Sox’ attempt to reach four consecutive wins for the first time this season is delayed until tomorrow
The White Sox (12-14) have won three consecutive games, which ties their longest of the young season. Their longest win streak in 2018 was four, and they acheived that twice, both in August (8/2-8/5 and 8/24-8/27). Unfortunately, their attempt at winning their fourth straight game will not happen tonight, as it is expected to rain all night in Chicago. They will play a double-header tomorrow, and the first game is scheduled to start at 3:10 CST. The second game will start roughly 30 minutes after the 3:10 game ends.
In the first game, the Sox will turn to Iván Nova, who is the probable starter. Nova has an 8.42 ERA this season, and he had a massive clunker in his last start, which also happened to be against Baltimore (10-20). In that game, he allowed nine runs (all earned) and lasted just four innings, as the Orioles won 9-1.
Nova will square off against veteran Andrew Cashner, who threw a gem in that same Orioles blowout win, only allowing one run in seven innings. That performance lowered Cashner’s season ERA to 4.18.
In non-major league news, quite a few prospects got promoted earlier today. One of those was the White Sox’ No. 4 prospect (per MLB Pipeline), Luis Robert, who was unstoppable with Class A+ Winston-Salem.
Both of tomorrow’s games will be televised on NBC Sports Chicago, and audio will be available on WGN 720. Stay dry, folks.
