A council has been shamed into doing something about potholes via a creative means.
Someone has gone around drawing penises around the holes, to highlight that they were still there and in need of attention.
Apparently, it’s an effective way to sort things out as they were fixed within days – despite being a problem for a year before that.
Locals praised ‘the power of the willy’ in Middlesbrough after the graffiti was placed around them on Wednesday.
On Friday pictures of them were shared on Facebook having been filled in.
A spokesman for Middlesbrough Council said a road-mending team that was already in the area acted to repair them once they were made aware of them.
Residents in Acklam, a suburb of Middlesbrough which is where they appeared, were delighted.
Zoe Jade Price said: ‘There’s gonna be a penis on every pothole now!’
Alison Johnson said: ‘So that’s what we have to do to get them repaired!’
Another person commented: ‘The power of the Willy. It’s only been there a year, well done Middlesbrough Council.’
A spokesman for Middlesbrough Council said: ‘Middlesbrough, like all local authority areas in the country, has issues with potholes and repairs are carried out on a priority basis determined by the risk they pose to highway users.
‘Currently, however, we are carrying out pre-planned works in the Acklam area and staff were able to visit the nearby site on Fane Grove when the matter was reported to us and have patched over the hole.’
