DEAR DEIDRE: EVERY time I try to contact a particular man from my past, his mum picks up the phone and says he’s out. She won’t even tell him I’ve called.
I first met him 20 years ago when I was 32. We fancied each other like mad but I was with someone else then.

He sent me a message online nearly two years ago saying he’d moved in with his mother as she was unwell.I don’t have his number at work so I’m sending letters and cards but I’m certain they’re not getting through.
He’s 64 and I’m sure he’d be over the moon if he knew that I’d called.
PERSONAL debt totals more than £1.5trillion, with average UK household non-mortgage debt at £15,000.
Trouble can strike when too ill to work, redundancy or relationships ending. My e-leaflet Solving Debt Problems helps find free help. Email me for a copy, or message me on Facebook.
DEIDRE SAYS: It could be that his mum wants to keep her son all to herself – or it could be he’s moved on and is no longer keen.
Best make greater efforts than this if you want to get through.
Catch him one morning when he leaves for work – at least then you’ll know where you stand.
