LASDRI REITERATES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ROAD ACCIDENTS

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), has reiterated its zero tolerance for road accidents on all roads across the metropolis and also renewed its constant appeal for re-training and re-certification of professional drivers in the State.

Mrs. Bolanle Tiamiyu, the Director, Training Department, who made the disclosure at a one-day recertification programme for 53 professional drivers of the Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) held at LASDRI Training Centre, Oshodi, added that the Institute was mandated to ensure motorists, especially commercial vehicle drivers, are well trained morally, psychologically and physically.

While emphasising the need for training, re-training and re-certifying drivers annually to ensure the roads are safe for all road users, she implored the professional drivers to be good ambassadors of the Institute and exhibit exemplary behaviour reflecting the unique training acquired at the drivers’ institute.

According to her, “Professional drivers should imbibe good dressing etiquette, refined language usage, indulge in cordial interpersonal relationships with potential commuters and other road users. A high-level of discipline is also germane and a key attribute of a good corporate professional driver”.

The Director congratulated all participants present and advised them not to misuse the rare opportunity accorded them for being part of the new bus reform programme of the Lagos State government.
