Watch Sigourney Weaver Exhort Samantha Bee to Cheer on Journalists at ‘Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner’ (Video)
Ripley to the rescue: Sigourney Weaver brought her iconic “Alien” character into the political fray Saturday night, in a sketch in which she discovered a disheveled Samantha Bee hiding on a space ship, avoiding her own “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” TBS special.
The sketch featured Bee choosing to avoid the Earth’s ugly politics altogether. Cue a Special Ops team lead by Weaver’s Ripley. They find a crazed Bee shuttering in the dark, clutching a Trump doll.
“I can’t cover another presidential election!” Bee cries. “There are too many candidates! Eighteen, 19, 30 – Nate Silver is going to f–k us again!”
“I know it’s bad down there,” Weaver responds. “It’s vile, appalling, a kick in the t–.”
Bee fights back, but Weaver persists. “Journalists have one of the most difficult jobs today, and you have to go down there and tell them how important they are.”

During the course of the evening, Bee took lots of shots at Trump, warning him that the comedian-free White House Correspondents Dinner wouldn’t stop her from roasting him — and she repeatedly made good on that threat.
“There are so many things you could say about this president,” she said. “That he’s vicious, vindictive, stupid, unattractive, unloved and will die alone… but what can we say that Melania hasn’t already said?”
She also joked, “I don’t want to say the Mueller Report is excessively redacted… but there was so much black on it, Trump demanded to see its birth certificate.”

And although she complimented the physical appearance of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, she added that “on the inside” she’s “hideous as a pinworm in an anus.”
Proceeds from Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner benefited the Committee to Protect Journalists.
