Indian lawmaker casts doubts over Modi’s BA degree with ‘hard facts’

Indian lawmaker Muhammad Salim has raised doubts over the authenticity of Prime Minister Narendra’s Modi’s Bachelors of Arts (BA) degree with ‘hard facts’, which could put the latter in hot water amid ongoing general elections.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, he said that Narendra Modi went underground during the period of emergency — from June 1975 till March 1977 — imposed by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi in the backdrop of chaotic situation in the country.

He stated that Indian premier got admitted in the BA course at the Delhi University at the same time emergency was imposed in the country, wondering “did he (Modi) find a magical way to be at multiple places at same time?”

Salim went on to further strengthen his stance by quoting references from the Indian PM’s own book “Aapatkal Mein Gujarat”, in which Modi claimed that he went underground during the period of emergency.

He also tweeted that Modi admitted in public that he dressed as a Sikh and used to carry letters for imprisoned leaders of the RSS.

According to The Hindu, The Delhi High Court, on April 23, had deferred hearing on a plea related to disclosure of details of Delhi University’s records of the students who had passed Bachelor of Arts course in 1978, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also cleared the exam, under the RTI Act.
