CIAA to investigate railway property encroachment

A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has arrived in Bara’s Simara to learn about encroachment of property belonging to the Raxaul-Amlekhgunj railway.

Acting on complaints that land and physical infrastructure of the Amlekhgunj-Raxaul railway service was being encroached, the CIAA team arrived here today for a field study.

The railway service that came into operation with the assistance of the East India Company during the British rule in India was closed in 1970.

A team from the Hetauda-based CIAA regional office led by its Under-secretary Dev Kumar Rai arrived in Simara and started interrogating the local residents.

“The encroachment of the railway property was apparent during our monitoring. Once we complete the preliminary survey, actual investigation will begin,” he said.

Earlier, some media had published news of encroachment of land belonging to the railway. After a complaint was filed at the CIAA on land encroachment, the CIAA at the direction of the Rail Department has shown interest in investigating the matter.
