Couple who married as teens pass away within 36 hours of each other

- High school sweethearts, Helen and Rudy Sloup, dated as teenagers and were married for 63 years

When Helen and Rudy Sloup said the words, ‘till death do us part’ they definitely meant it.

The American couple were high school sweethearts after their first date aged 14 and 17 respectively. The Sloups got married and enjoyed 63 years of marriage together.

It seems the couple had an affinity for the numbers 6 and 3. After the 63 years together, both Helen and Rudy passed away exactly 36 hours apart.

Western Journal reported that Helen passed away on April 11, as a result of heart disease, aged 81.

There is a common belief that elderly couples that have been married for many years tend to pass on within a short space of time of each other.

Legit.ng noted that the Sloups are a prime example of this as Rudy soon died 36 hours following his wife’s death.

Bob, their eldest son, epitomised what his parents stood for when he said: “If someone else needs help, you give them a hand. That’s just what good neighbours do.”

After 63 years of living together, the Sloups only had to endure 36 hours apart.
