Political cartoons: Mueller report’s release

The Mueller report, which Attorney General William Barr has said he’ll redact along four broad categories, is expected to be released Thursday. The report features the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller’s nearly two-year investigation into Russian collusion by Trump campaign officials and obstruction of justice by President Trump himself.

Since Barr released an initial four-page summary of the nearly four hundred page report weeks ago, members of the special counsel’s team have come out against Barr’s characterization that it absolves Trump on both collusion and obstruction-related investigative fronts.

Congressional Democrats are gearing up to fight for the unredacted report, according to the Washington Post. While the House Judiciary Committee has voted to authorize chairman Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., to issue a subpoena demanding an unredacted report be given to Congress, there is bipartisan support in the House Intelligence Committee for a pending request by Rep. Adam Schiff D.-Calif., for any information related to “the counterintelligence investigation,” or anything tied to Russia’s attempt to influence the 2016 presidential election.
