When Liverpool scored two goals inside the first 25 minutes of the first leg at Anfield, it seemed like the quarterfinal would be over before we even saw the return match; the Reds dominated possession and looked lethal with the ball, and it felt like a matter of time before they wrapped up the tie. But Porto showed great resilience and played really well in the second half, which will give them hope of a miracle comeback at home.

They have to show more potency on offense, however. The Portuguese side barely troubled Alisson in goal, and Virgil Van Dijk had an easy night dealing with the Porto strikers. For the home side to have any shot at an upset, they need to score early and put doubts in Liverpool’s minds, and at the same time, they have to figure out a way to stop Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané on the counter-attack. If they have a good night in front of goal and Porto commit too many men forward while trying to get a goal, things could get ugly for Porto.

Liverpool is massive favorites to advance, but if they allow arrogance to take over and Porto feed off the stadium’s energy and get a quick goal, this could be a fascinating night of Champions League soccer.
