HOUSTON — Even in the midst of an intense playoff series against the Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert isn't oblivious to what's going on in his home country of France.
Following Monday's massive fire that broke out at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which damaged parts of the 850-year-old building, Gobert posted photos of the fire on his Instagram account while using praying hands as the caption.
The cathedral's iconic 300-foot oak spire also collapsed in the process, but the damages can be restored eventually.
"It was tough to watch," Gobert said following Tuesday's practice. "It's one of the most iconic monuments, not only in France but in history, in general.
"Before my grand, grand, grand, grandparents were born so it's something that has a lot of value in our hearts, so it was tough to watch," he continued. "It's great that they were able to save some of it."
