After a goalless first half at Anfield, Sadio Mane headed the Reds into the lead from close range in the 51st minute when he met Jordan Henderson’s cross.
Salah then produced a superb moment of brilliance when he rifled home a right-footed shot into the top-left corner two minutes later.
The Reds held on to claim a victory which moved them back to the top of the Premier League table with four games left to play.
And former England striker Shearer was clearly impressed by Salah’s strike, as he wrote on Twitter: “Strrriiikkkeeeeee @MoSalah #LIVCHE.”
Meanwhile, former Liverpool FC winger Ryan Babel also chimed in on Twitter after Salah’s stunning goal: “Whoaaaa Mo.”
The result left Liverpool FC top of the Premier League table and two points ahead of Manchester City, who have played a game less than the Reds.
Liverpool FC will now switch their focus back towards Champions League affairs and their trip to FC Porto in the return leg of their quarter-final tie on Tuesday night.
