Boy, 18, ‘cut his mother’s throat after she caught him and friend robbing her house’
A teenage boy murdered his mother with the help of his best friend after she caught him robbing her house, police say.
Matthew Dempsey, 18, began battering his mother Mary Dempsey, 53, with a baseball bat after she returned to their home in San Antonio, Texas, unexpectedly Monday night.
His pal Daniel Saucedo, also 18, is said to have picked up another bat and joined in the battering, before Matthew Dempsey cut his mother’s throat with a kitchen knife.
The pair are then accused of binding Mary Dempsey’s body with duct tape, before covering her in a blanket, stealing her wallet and driving away in her Honda Accord.
Mary Dempsey’s body was discovered on Tuesday morning when her colleagues contacted her daughter to say she hadn’t showed up for work.

A police affidavit says that on entering the living room she ‘stepped closer to the blanket and saw it was covering a person and saw a pool of blood.’
Cops were called, and traveled to Matthew Dempsey’s house, where they discovered a bag filled with blood-splattered clothes.
After Dempsey returned home, he was arrested. The alleged killer’s girlfriend told police he had confessed the killing to her, and said he had murdered his mother with Saucedo’s help.
Both boys have been charged with capital murder, and are being held in lieu of $1million bond each.
Family friend Rebecca Luna was among those who paid tribute to Mary Dempsey on Facebook, writing: ‘I can’t believe she’s gone this way.
‘And that her son did this to her. She worked two jobs. Hard working woman. So terribly sad!! She was sweet and kind.’
