Church of Scientology – Sword-wielding man shot dead after storming Inglewood church and firing at two cops
A SWORD-wielding man stormed a Church of Scientology and fired at cops with a gun before being shot dead.
Two police officers were injured after the man opened fire at the church in Inglewood, Los Angeles.
Police said the suspect, described only as an Asian male, entered the church wearing a hoodie at about 3.30pm on Wednesday, but it is not yet clear what happened inside.
When cops responded, one officer was shot in the hand and the other in the forearm, Inglewood Police Lt. Neal Cochran said.
But these injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The suspect was taken to a hospital in a critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed there were no other injuries beyond the officers and suspect.
Investigators are combing the scene for evidence and are working to determine what led up to the shooting.
They will be looking for any CCTV that might have captured the shooting.
