Environment Agency issues flood alerts across Kent
There are five flood alerts in place across the county for this afternoon.
The Environment Agency's warning there could be flooding along the coast from Dartford to Allhallows and from Whitstable to Margate.
It has also issued warnings for the Isle of Sheppey and Isle of Grain.
High water is expected along the Medway estuary, which could even affect parts of Maidstone.
Tides will be at their highest between Whitstable and Margate at 1.30pm, with promenades, coastal footpaths and low-lying land at risk.
High tide on the Isle of Sheppey is at around 2pm, with high water forecast at Sheerness at 2.15 this afternoon.
Dartford and Allhallows will see tides at their highest at around 2.30pm.
However, officials have warned that flooding may occur one or two hours either side of these times.
People have been advised to avoid low-lying footpaths, land and roads while warnings are in place.
The Environment Agency is "closely monitoring the situation" and its main message is to "be prepared".
Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point and no flooding is expected from the high tide overnight.
