The Eagles of Cincinnati Christian University came to hit Friday night at UC Health Field in Florence, Kentucky. CCU collected twelve hits off two Asbury pitchers and eventually scored six runs during the contest.
Although CCU appeared in control of the offensive production, Asbury reliever Hiroshi Ishiwatari was sharp in his single inning of relief. The junior right-handed pitcher allowed no runs, no hits, and no walks during his frame.
Asbury did produce nine hits during the game but could not string anything together to create a big inning. Paul Haupt (Louisville, Ky) continued his season long offensive production collecting three hits and driving in one RBI. Josh Blancet (Nicholasville, Ky) also garnered two hits, and senior Alejandro Jivanjee collected one hit in a pinch-hitting situation.
CCU walked seven Asbury hitters during the game but also managed to strike out seven with three different pitchers.
Asbury will return to action Saturday in Florence, Kentucky against CCU.
