[Softball] Vikings Split Conference Match-up with Eagles
Fayette, MO – Grand View softball split their series with conference opponent Central Methodist Friday. Both teams are receiving votes in the national rankings.
Grand View moves at a 7-4 overall season record and Central Methodist moves to a 9-8 record.
The Vikings are back in action March 24 as they travel to Marshal, MO to take on conference opponent in a doubleheader starting at 12 pm.

After two innings of play, Grand View trailed 5-2 to the Eagles. A three-run home run from Alyx Witt (FR/Norwalk, IA) in the top of the sixth tied the game 5-5 for the Vikings. CMU brought in another run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead headed into the last inning.
Grand View scored seven runs off five hits in the top of the seventh and defensively held the Eagles to two-run, winning the first game 12-8.
Kaylee Watson (SO/Stockport, IA), Abby Sutten (FR/Altoona, IA), and Witt all recorded to hits for the Vikings. Witt also tallied four RBI and one run. Melissa Geis (SO/Omaha, NE) added two RBI for the Grand View.
Libby Yenger (SR/Indianola, IA) earned the win for the Vikings on the mound allowing six runs off eight hits.

Game two proved to be less exciting, as both teams dueled in the circle. CMU was able to a 1-0 lead in the third off an RBI single. The Eagles made it 2-0 off another RBI single in the fifth. Grand View fought back in the top of the seventh off Abby Sutten's sacrifice hit to bring in Kari Adams (JR/Newton, IA).
Sutten, Lexi Merritt (JR/Waukee, IA), Lauren Poortinga (SR/Des Moines, IA), and Geis all recorded one hit for the Vikings.
Meaghan Grah (JR/Boronia, Australia) threw all six innings for the Vikings, allowing two earned runs off eight hits.
