Survive and advance is the name of the game in postseason. Georgetown College men's basketball had a battle on its hands in the second round of the 2019 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. The No. 1 Tigers (30-4) watched two double-digit leads evaporate before pulling out an 82-79 win over Louisiana State University – Shreveport.
With less than 30 seconds left, and the shot clock approaching zero, Troy Steward drove the lane and found a cutting Joe Burton for a high flying slam. This brilliant connection gave GC the lead for good, but the team had to sweat out the final 29 seconds.
The Pilots (23-11) missed a three, but put the Tigers on the line. Georgetown missed the front end of a bonus opportunity and the rebound came to Tim Coleman.
