Family ‘give police conflicting stories about when they last saw missing baby’
A family has offered conflicting statements about when they last saw an eight month-old baby girl who has been missing for almost 10 days.
Amiah Robertson’s mother Amber says her ex-boyfriend had planned to drop the baby off with a sitter near his home in Indianapolis last week, only for that babysitter to say Amiah had never arrived.
Amber Robertson claims she last saw Amiah on Friday March 15, despite relatives initially telling police the infant had last been seen the day before.
The Robertsons are said to have offered the police those conflicting statements even as officers warned the little girl could be in grave danger.
They reported Amiah missing on Saturday March 16, with police launching an appeal for information on her whereabouts on Tuesday March 19 over fears for her safety.
Amber Roberston told CBS4: ‘I’m worried. I’m shook-up. I’m nervous. I’m scared to begin to know what’s wrong with her, if anything is wrong with her.
‘I hope my daughter gets home safely and that she is alive and ok and not being starved or beat.’
Police did not issue an Amber Alert – used to notify the public of a possible child abduction – because they did not have any suspect vehicle information.
They have searched the banks of a creek close to Amiah’s home after being tipped-off that evidence may have been dumped there.
Amiah’s neighbors are currently working 24 hour volunteer shifts to try and find her, with organizer Timothy Smith telling Fox59: ‘We’re going to keep searching until we find this baby.’
