Hero cops rescue two wailing baby bears from flooded den as anxious mother bear watches
Two sheriff’s deputies risked their lives to rescue a pair of wailing baby bears from a flooded cave as the animals’ anxious mother looked on.
Zach Pierce and Dylan Wegner, form Ashland County Sheriff’s Department in Wisconsin, sprung into action after they heard the stricken baby bears crying Friday.
Heartwarming video footage shared to the department’s Facebook page showed one of the deputies say ‘You’re okay little guys,’ as the tiny animals screamed with fear.
After rescuing the bears from the flooded den, Deputies Pierce and Wegner brought the soaked, freezing animals into their patrol car to dry them off and warm them up.
They did so despite the bears’ protective mother watching their every move, with Pierce saying she was groggy after waking up.
After drying the cubs off, Pierce and Wegner put them in a safe area, then left them for their mother to come pick them up.
Their act of kindness has been widely praised, with numerous commenters hailing them for saving the bears.
