After starting the season with a 2-9 record, the Iona Gaels rose from the ashes and won 10 games in a row to finish the season 17-15 and win the MAAC Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. They earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as a number 16 seed, and they’ll now try to play the role of giant killers. Tim Cluess’ team has an eight-man rotation that leaves everything on the floor every night; combine that intensity with good ball movement and suffocating defense, and Iona has enough tools to cause problems for the big boys. And who knows: if they have a perfect night, they might shock the world.

North Carolina is a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament for the 17th time, the most ever by any school. The Tar Heels amassed a 27-6 record with four of their six losses coming against ranked teams. They defeated Duke twice in the regular season before succumbing to their bitter rivals in the semifinals of the ACC tournament. Nevertheless, they are in prime position to push for a seventh national title and a second in three years. The Tar Heels will likely go as far as the dynamic duo of Cam Johnson and Coby White take them. Johnson leads the team in scoring, while White is an explosive playmaker who leads the way in assists. Roy Williams is looking for his fourth national title as a head coach. Can they shake off the loss to Duke and lift the trophy one more time or will they fall short?
