Brexit March 2019: Everything you need to know about today’s anti-Brexit People’s Vote march

Today, Saturday 23 March, hundreds of thousands of people are going to descend on Parliament in a protest calling for there to be a People’s Vote on Brexit.

Protesters will be marching today to demand another public Brexit vote, with many anti-Brexiters highlighting the fact that parliament still has no Brexit deal in place, and the variety of electoral issues associated with the Vote Leave campaign, including the breaking of electoral law due to overspending and Boris Johnson’s now-infamous Brexit bus.

If you’re interested in knowing when and where this March is due to take place today, then read on, because we’ve got the details right here…

What time is the People’s Vote Brexit march?

The People’s Vote march is going to start at 12pm on Saturday 23 March. While crowds will meet at noon, the actual marching will start at 1pm.

The march comes in the wake of the ongoing turmoil and uncertainty regarding Brexit that has plagued Parliament and headlines alike for quite some time, a viral petition to revoke Article 50 which, over a matter of days, amassed over 4 million signatures, and ‘leaked’ plans for a no-deal Brexit which highlight how chaotic crashing out of the EU without a deal could really be.

Where will the Brexit march start, and what’s the route?

The march will start at London’s Park Lane, just north of the Hilton Hotel, and end at Parliament Square.

From 1pm, the march will move down Park Lane along the eastern side of Hyde Park. The crowd will then turn left down Piccadilly, and go via St James Street and Pall Mall to Trafalgar Square.

From there, the march will proceed down Whitehall and past Downing Street before it reaches Parliament Square.

Once the crowd has reached the square, there will be a rally, and speeches will be given from 2pm.

According to the Independent, politicians including David Lammy, Independent Group MP Anna Soubry, Caroline Lucas, and Liberal Democrat leader Sir Vince Cable will be joining in the march, and the leaders of the SNP and Plaid Cymru in Westminster – Ian Blackford and Liz Saville Roberts – have also confirmed their support of the march.
